The C50 is the 40mm filter version of the  Avon Protection “50 Series” of masks.  The C50/M50/FM50 masks are the newest generation Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear full face masks specifically designed to meet the latest mask requirements. The FM50/M50, known as the new Joint Services General Purpose Mask (JSPGPM), is the mask of choice for all branches of the U.S. Military.  The C50 and M50/FM50 are essentially the same mask with different filter systems.  The C50 mask uses one 40mm filter mounted one either the left or righ side of the mask.  The C50 can be used with any NATO 40mm filter, including CBRN filters, Riot agent filters, and conformal (low profile) filters.  The M50/FM50 uses two M50/FM50 conformal filters mounted on each side of the mask using bayonet type fittings.

First a note on buying gas masks.  Avoid buying imported or surplus masks, as these are of questionable quality…law enforcement agencies around the country have spent millions switching to this mask, and for good reason: it is a vast improvement over previous masks. If you find a mask you like, make sure the mask comes sealed in plastic, in the original box, with filters sealed as well.  If any of these criteria are missing, the mask is almost certainly used.  Additionally, ask all sellers where the mask was obtained.  If it is not from a licensed retailer or distributor, there’s a fair probability that its used, or has some other issue, like a defect, such as a leak, or age, or cracked rubber (excessive exposure to excessive UV rays can break down the rubber and seals, prematurely aging the mask).  The point is there is no sense in risking death or serious lung injury from purchasing a used mask that may have been disposed of because of equipment failure, exposure to a toxic gases, or some other issue.  Our masks and filters are 100% new.

The C50/M50/FM50 mask family is the choice of America’s elite for good reason.  The wide visor offers superior field of vision over traditional respirators, greatly enhancing the compatibility with weapons and sights.  C50 Conformal filters, such as the GPCF50 sit close against the face, providing the user with high protection and very low breathing resistance.  The one filter design of the mask allows for a better cheek weld when using a rifle.  The filters are effective against nerve agents (G series and V series), blister agents (Mustard, Lewisite), blood agents (Hydrogen Cyanide, Cyanogen Choride, Chloropicrin), and riot control agents (CS, CN and OC).  Large Item Number: 70501-555, Medium Item Number: 70501-556, Small Item Number: 70501-557.

Available in 3 sizes, the C50 features a panoramic flexible visor, Electronic Communication Port (ECP) and high-flow fail-safe hydration device.  The C50 is NIOSH CBRN Cap 1 approved with the CBRNF12B filter and NIOSH 42 CFR 84 riot control CS-CN-P100 approved with the CTF12 filter.  The C50 meets the latest NATO military standards.  The filter side can be changed using Filter Mount Plug Tool (70501-161, not included.)

Sizes: 85% of men use a Medium, so that is mostly what we carry.  A small size is better for women or teenagers.
