Description

The Water Storage Upgrade – Standard is a kit of ten WaterBrick water storage containers and two spigots. It holds 35 gallons, about the same as a 35-gallon drum, but split into 3.5-gallon bricks you can carry, stack and move one at a time. It’s built for families adding stored water to a home plan, and it pairs with the filter kits you may already own.

Why Stackable WaterBrick Water Storage Containers

A drum works until you have to move it. Each WaterBrick weighs about 30 pounds full, so one person can carry it to the kitchen, a closet or a vehicle. Empty, a brick weighs about 2.5 pounds.

The bricks interlock like building blocks. Cross-stack them in a small footprint, slide them under a bed or tuck a few into a closet. WaterBrick recommends keeping a stack at 4 feet or lower.

How Much Water Is 35 Gallons?

The common planning number is one gallon per person per day. At that rate, this kit covers a family of four for about 8 days, or one person for about a month. Plan for more if it’s hot, if you have pets, or if you cook a lot of dried food.

Storage Is Half the Plan

Stored water buys you time. A filter keeps you going when it runs out. RMR owner Chris Koelzer says the most common water mistake is skipping sustainment: knowing what your gear can handle and how it will hold up a year or five years from now. Pair this kit with one of our LifeSaver or AquaBrick filter kits so you have both.

Filling and Care

Clean each brick before the first fill. WaterBrick’s owner’s manual calls for a quarter cup of bleach mixed with one cup of water, shaken inside the capped brick, then a full rinse. Check that the lid gasket is seated, fill with treated tap water, cap it and write the date on the brick.

WaterBricks also hold dry food like rice and beans. They are not made for fuel, oil or any flammable liquid.
