Oral rehydration salts can save lives! When heat, inadequate water intake, strenuous exercise or illness have caused dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, it is imperative to re-hydrate the victim and restore proper electrolytes. Trying to drink plain water at a time like this can cause you to become even sicker, but this mixture is easy to keep down and actually has a soothing effect on the digestive system (I speak from experience). Simply empty a packet into a liter or quart of clean water and have the victim drink as much as possible.
