Steri Strips

Steri strips are the preferred choice in the medical profession for treating wounds instead of performing stitches. These strips of tape are indispensable nowadays because they are the best means to avoid the development of kelloid in recovering wounds. Instead of investing in expensive scar removers, you only need to rely on steri strips

which maintain the edges of the wounds in place.

However, proper care and maintenance is needed with steristrips all the time in order to ensure the efficiency of steri strips. They have the tendency to trap moisture especially in children so it is important that you always keep it dry. Moist conditions can attract bacterial infection. Moreover, soaking the steri strips with water can compromise the adhesives and hamper the recovery of the wound.

Like scabs, steri strips tend to fall by themselves after ten days when they have done their job. Only when you have to remove the steri strips should you soak it in water because failing to do so may cause your wound to rip wide open. Also, be vigilant about the status of the steri strips. Contact your doctor immediately for advice at the very instance you see swelling, bad odor, redness or any infection when using steristrips.
