A game changer! For years we have camped and gone boating on our smallish 26′ sailboat doing the ice and cooler deal. You know how that ends, if your trip is more than a few days, with your food spoiled and floating in cold water. We got our MT 45 from Ready Made Resources about a year ago. These units are very popular and are many times out of stock as they were when we placed our order. Robert from RMR was in contact informing me of the back order status and even contacted the company to determine anticipated ship date, (they drop ship direct from Engel). Got the unit with only slight delay and in perfect condition.
Great unit and great customer service all around.
We just returned from a month long sailing trip up in the North Channel of Lake Huron, Ontario, canada. Our unit ran the entire time on a single AMG battery with a 100w solar panel to keep things charged up. Kept the beer cold and the food safe from the recent record heat. Very quiet operation also which is nice on a small sailboat at night.
These units are expensive, but worth the money. Hands down one of the best purchases we have made in the past year!
BTW, the MT45 is not too large, so really look at this unit before you decide on a smaller unit.

I have had two of the Engel 45 refrigerators. The first one was lost in a fire, so I replaced it with the same model Engel. I first saw these at the Shot Show. Yes they are expensive but you don’t need to bother with ice. When used with a vehicle just make sure the vehicle has a top notch battery if you are going to let it run without driving the vehicle for a week and test it before hand. I recommend getting the jacket to go over the cooler as it provides extra insulation and protection. I’ve had mine in the bed of the truck and it has rained on it with no problem. Some people think it is for carrying medical supplies.
