The versatile Big Berkey water system is the ideal system for use at home with small or medium sized families, travel, outdoor activities or during unexpected emergencies. The Big Berkey water filter is our most popular model for home use. It is the second size in the Berkey Water filter family. With a four filter capacity, it holds 2.25 gallons of water on top, purifing 3.5 gal. per hour with two filters. All stainless Berkey systems can be stacked one can inside the other for convenient mobility. Constructed of highly polished 304 stainless steel. Gravity flow design needs no water pressure or electricity. *Flow rate calculated with upper chamber full to top. Flow rate decreases as water level declines – models priced with 2 or 4 filters. The Black Berkey^® purification element formulation has been tested by State & EPA accredited laboratories to exceed EPA & ANSI/NSF (Std. 53) protocol.
